1800 Tibentan Antique Wood Cabinet
This hand-painted Tibetan cabinet is a late 19th-century antique crafted from pine wood and decorated with traditional mineral pigments. The central panel of its door features an Endless Knot, a revered Buddhist symbol representing eternity, interconnectedness, and harmony. Surrounding the symbol are elaborate floral motifs and what appear to be golden treasure vases or crowns, all rendered in a rich palette of red, gold, and green earth tones.
Historically, cabinets of this type were used as family altars or for storing religious scrolls, ceremonial objects, and other valuable possessions. The piece showcases a distressed finish consistent with its age, reflecting years of use and adding to its authentic character. A delicate gold floral design accents the front frame, highlighting the cabinet's skilled craftsmanship and decorative appeal.
The sides and back retain the natural pine wood surface, contrasting beautifully with the richly painted front. The top bears a small wax marking believed to be the maker's signature, providing an intriguing detail that further enhances the cabinet's historical significance and uniqueness.
